Community service means a lifelong commitment to
improving the lives of others through compassion, in-
tegrity and action. It’s about recognizing needs within a
community; whether related to vision care, hunger or
human care and development. It’s also about stepping
forward to make a tangible difference. In January of
1955, a group of caring citizens started the Northport
Lion’s Club. The club just celebrated it’s 70th anniver-
sary of community service.
Service is not seen as an obligation to a Northport Lion.
It’s seen as a privilege and a shared mission carried out
alongside fellow members who are united by a com-
mon purpose: to serve selflessly. Through hands-on
projects, fundraising efforts and volunteerism,
Northport Lions view community service as a way to
create lasting impacts, strengthen local connections
and uphold our motto “we serve”.
